As an Events and Marketing assistant, my job is to establish social media strategy and assist in event plan, prep, and execution for a local independent bookstore.
Our aim has been to increase reach and engagement on their Instagram and TikTok profiles, and to drive more traffic towards in-store and online sales.
@quailridgebooks: Ready to read and socialize? 📖 Here are our September book club books! Get a copy of your club's book from QRB to receive 21% off. Go to the link in our bio for more details. Happy reading!
@quailridgebooks: Thank you to the lovely NC author @jasminesmithwrites for stopping by to sign copies of DEATH CARD this week! Look at those beautiful sprayed edges! 🥰
Signed copies are available on display at the store or at the link in our bio!
@quailridgebooks: We had so much fun talking WE CHASE SHADOWS, black bears, and massage parlors with @misterosman and @lbtheloverofbooks at Meredith College! Signed books available online and in-store.
(Stay tuned for our event recap, coming soon!)
The Events & Marketing team is made of only two people. Much of the time, I reach out to the booksellers for their social media content ideas and for them to star in our short-form videos. This focus on creating short-form videos has resulted in a 144% increase in activity across Instagram and TikTok and in an uptick of customers stating they stopped by thanks to the content they saw through those platforms.

Even without collaboration from the author, this video has gathered over 9k views and 500 comments across platforms.
Authorless events don't gain as much traction on social media, but videos like this still average over 4k views.
